The "Silver Merit Brooch for Women" was donated as decorations on April 25, 1892 Emperor and King William II..
In February 1900, the decorations was renamed the Women's Silver Cross of Merit.
Originally einklassige award was extended to the Golden Women's Cross of Merit in 1902.
The first class was a cross of gold plated silver and was awarded the Silver Cross after 10 years of ownership of the 2nd class.
This had to be stored and then returned.
Were awarded the Cross of women and young women who had distinguished themselves by sacrificing activities in the field of charity and rendered outstanding.
On October 22, 1907, the Women's Cross of Merit was included in the Prussian Order system and confirmed orders.
The first award period is given from 1893 to October 1907.
In this time of Merit Silver Brooches without a band, Silver brooches merit (Women's Orders of Merit from 1900) were awarded with ribbon and 1902 Women's Golden Crosses of Merit with ribbon.
Had the crosses with tape above the horizontal needle a clip mechanism to hold the ribbon decoration.
The second award period is estimated by 1908 (after the recognition as a religious order) until November 1916.
Distinctive feature of the 1st form is the lack of horizontal pin and the changed image of the band decoration (the bail mechanism is missing).
Furthermore Crosses with the royal crown on Preußinnen and not Prussian women were only awarded.
The crosses were made in several parts in the first two periods ceremony.
The Women's Cross of Merit, shown here in silver dates from this time ceremony.
The Silver Women's Cross of Merit of the 2nd period was awarded a total of 243 times.
In the last period 1917-1918, the crosses were minted in one piece and had a simple oval eyelet as tape recording.
