The medal For the Defense of the Caucasus (Var.-2)

The medal "For the Defense of the Caucasus (Russian Медаль" За оборону Кавказа ") was a Soviet award during the Second World War during the German summer offensive, which resulted in further parts of the Caucasus by the Wehrmacht occupation. As part of the North Caucasian operation, however, the Red Army until February 1943 to liberate the Caucasus again. The medal was donated by Joseph Stalin and awarded to all those members of the Red Army who were involved in the defense of the Caucasus.
Stylish look and manner
The bronze medal on their obverse shows the central mountains of the Caucasus whose peaks planes flying to the west, as well as oil field with derricks faced three tanks go in the same direction. Semicircular the transcription За оборону Кавказа is (for the defense of the Caucasus) to read. This representation is enclosed by a container of rose branches, where there is a Soviet star in the upper center between the branches. The medal was worn on the left side of the upper chest awardees of an elongated pentagonal fabric-covered buckle, whose base color is light green. The order book shows both sides of a blue collar and a woven vertical center stripe that has the color combination of blue-white-red-green-red-white-blue. The accompanying interim clip is of the same nature.
