The Medal "For Victory over Germany in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945" (Russian Медаль «За Победу над Германией в Великой Отечественной войне 1941-1945 гг." / Medal "Sat Pobedu nad Germanijei w Welikoi Otetschestwennoi Woine 1941-1945 gg ") was one of the most awards given to the Soviet Union.
Some 15 million Soviet citizens were awarded with this medal. They were all soldiers, officers, and partisans presented who had participated directly in combat operations against the German Reich during the Second World War.
The medal is made of brass and bears the profile of Stalin on the front and the text "For Victory over Germany in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945" on the back. The medal is attached to the St. George's band, which has developed in the Russian Federation from 2005 to the popular icon for the memory of the war.
