The Order of the Star of Anjouan (. Fr Ordre de l'Étoile d'Anjouan) founded in 1874 as a military and civil earnings by Sultan Mohamed Said Omar, following the example of the French Legion of Honour. On September 12, 1896 Order was adopted as the so-called colonial order in the French religious system. By decree of the French President Vincent Auriol, he was renamed on 1 September 1950 in order of the French Overseas Territories (. Fr Ordre de la France d'Outre-mer). With the foundation of the French National Order of Merit, the award of the Order of the Star of Anjouan has been set

 Following the acquisition in the French Order of system conditions were attached to the award of the Order. Accordingly, the Laureates person had at least three years of service in the French colonies of the Indian Ocean (Comoros, Madagascar, Réunion) are able to demonstrate or have but rendered special services to these colonies in metropolitan France.

 On 14 July 1933, the statutes being modified such that achieved for a ceremony now the age of 29 and at least nine years colonial service had to be demonstrated.

 Medal decoration

 The religious character is an eight-pointed golden star and shows in white enamel medallion on a horizontally lying half-moon an outstretched hand. In Arabic characters are seen. To the medallion a frost runs with the inscription ASIDE ROYAL DE ÉTOILE D'ANJOUAN COMORES (Royal Order of the Star of Anjouan).

 carrying method

 The carrying method of the Order was inspired by the Legion of Honour. The Grand Cross was worn on a sash on the right shoulder to the left hip and with an increased religious character as a breast star on the left chest. Grand Officers decorated the award with ribbon on the left chest with a rosette and a breast star on the right side of the chest. Commander wore the award for neck Order. Officers and knights wore the award with ribbon on the left chest. Officers additionally provided with a rosette on the tape.

 The ribbon was originally red with white margins. Since the similarity to the red ribbon of the Legion of Honor was too big, it was decided on 5 December 1899 a light blue ribbon with two narrow orange border strip.
