Created by the decree of June 14, 1894, the Medal of Honor Medal is also called Customs Customs. We owe it to future President Raymond Poincaré, who, as Minister of Finance, wanted to honor and thus give new impetus to the zeal of active duty officers of the Customs.
Since the decree of July 19, 1894, the administration attributed to each holder an annual bonus of 50 francs, which was increased to 100 francs in 1931. But since the decree of November 15, 1985, at the presentation of the medal offered by the administration, the recipient is given a one-time allocation of 50 francs, payable at once, and a patent.
If initially the medal was given to officers of the brigades of Algeria and it was not until the application of the decree of May 5, 1899, it could also be attributed to inferior agents colonial brigades.
The decree of December 15, 1944, provided that the Medal of Honor Customs could be issued in exceptional cases, within the limit of one hundred decorations by the Minister of Finance Customs officers were reported by June 16, 1940 through their activity in the resistance and struggle for the liberation of the country.
Section 19 of the law of July 16, 1921, fixes the number of customs officers in active service at a maximum of 1,030, this award can be granted.
