Grand Officer Cross
The Order of the Phoenix was founded by the Greek government on May 13, 1926 as an order of merit for foreigners and, after the reintroduction of the monarchy on January 18, 1936, was changed into a civil and military order for all people.
Order classes
The order is awarded today by the President of the Republic in five classes:
• Grand Cross
• Grand Commander
• Commander
• Cross in gold
• Cross in silver
Order decoration
The order's symbol is a white enamel golden paw cross with a golden plastic phoenix in the middle.
For military merit, the order is awarded with crossed swords through the angles of the cross.
Carrying method
The Grand Cross is worn with a sash from the left shoulder to the right hip and an eight-pointed silver breast star. Grand commanders wear the breast star and a neck medal, commanders only wear the same. The gold or silver cross is worn on a ribbon on the left chest.
The ribbon is yellow with black border stripes.
